Duncan’s autobiographical debut novel follows the coming-of-age of a young trans man, Ponyboy, as he travels through Europe and gets into romantic trouble. “Ponyboy’s a jerk, honestly!” Duncan told Dazed Digital, adding, “It was important that I didn’t change his circumstances or narrative to represent trans people in a good light, because again, we’re just people.”
